Position: ICT Officer – Systems / Database Administrator

Number of Position(s): 1 (One)

Reports to: Principal ICT Officer

Department: Technical Services

Duty Station:  Head Office

Systems Administration

  1. Manage and document application processes; administer and provide support to UEDCL applications.
  2. Troubleshoot software and identify root causes of software problems.
  3. Analyze software and hardware-related issues and propose solutions.
  4. Obtain and log customer feedback for the purpose of process improvement.
  5. Manage and Maintain CCTV system.
  6. Installing, configuring, and upgrading database software and related products installation as directed.
  7. A restoration team member, if required, during major incidents.
  8. To design and administer document libraries.
  9. Ensure that UEDCL documents have all been digitized.
  10. To design and implement workflow forms in EDRMS, physical conversion into electronic form process.
  11. Process customer work orders.
  12. Configure profile Options / Accounts in various software application based on User roles / functions in UEDCL

Database Administration

  1. Manage, administer and backup company databases.
  2. Test data backups and generate restore test reports.
  3. Installing, configuring, and upgrading database software and related products installation.
  4. Manage, administer and maintain the disaster recovery site.
  5. Log daily data replication operations at disaster recovery site
  6. Manage and monitor the performance of the database and its space utilization.

Provide IT Support

  1. Log and assign IT Help Desk tickets where required.
  2. Handle software-related requests for assistance with problems.
  3. Analyze, troubleshoot software and identify root causes of software/hardware problems and propose solutions.
  4. Analyze software/ hardware related issues and propose solutions.
  5. Fix software/hardware problems and test solutions prior to implementing them.
  6. Obtain and log customer feedback for the purpose of process improvement.
  7. Document software support activities thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner.

Application Analysis and Support

  1. Consult with users to determine how best to meet department/section – and the organization’s – requirements.
  2. Design and develop system requirements; develop and communicate overall design approach.
  3. Determine how existing systems might meet emerging requirements.
  4. Review work log, customer feedback periodically with supervisor and other analysts and technicians, to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
  5. Facilitate the development of end- user support procedures.
  6. Make decisions quickly, sometimes with limited information.
  7. Any duties as may be assigned from time.

     Qualifications & Experience:

·         Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Information Science/System/ Computer Engineering / Science from recognized University/Institution

·         Certificate in Database Administration is an added advantage.

·         Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Information Technology.

·         Knowledge of Database Management Systems in MSSQL and MYSQL is a MUST.

·         Demonstrated Knowledge of SDLC is a necessity.

·         Knowledge of scripting language is a MUST

·         Proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) for database querying, manipulation, and optimization
