Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks and all the operational assets associated with the business currently leased to Umeme Ltd. The company monitors Umeme Ltd and other Concessionaires in Uganda, directly distributes power in Ten (10) territories covering over 86 rural and border districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.

The Company is seeking to recruit qualified, competent, and highly motivated Ugandans for the role of Graduate Trainee – Human Resource

Number of Position(s) – 01 (One)

Reports to:          Human Resource Officer

Department:  Corporate

Duty Station:        Head Office

Key Result Areas:

  • Provide administrative support to the staff of UEDCL in accordance to UEDCL policies and procedures
  • Preparation and tracking of all departmental appointments, confirmation letters of new staff, dismissal letters, warning letters, retirements, and transfers for UEDCL ensuring safe storage of such documents
  • Managing filing processes like labeling new files, keeping track of HR files, and document movements
  • Prepare and print out payroll checklists sufficiently and accurately for all UEDCL offices
  • Assist with the recruitment process e.g. preparing the interview room, performing reference checks, preparing files for panelists, and scheduling interviews
  • Identifying and summarizing staff whose contracts are due for renewal
  • Compiling tracking reports for vehicles and motorcycles at UEDCL
  • Performing file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained
  • Support all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests
  • Maintain digital and electronic records of employees
  • Assisting the HR Officer with sending and collecting performance appraisal forms
  • Receiving medical cards and work identity cards ensuring that they are acknowledged and received by the employees
  • Taking minutes in meetings

Perform any other duties as may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with others.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of human resources principles and practices
