Job Purpose

To ensure the effective acquisition of land and wayleaves for UEDCL projects, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks while minimizing project delays and disputes.

Impact

The role supports timely project execution by facilitating land acquisition and resolving wayleave challenges, contributing to infrastructure expansion and customer satisfaction.

Key Result Areas

  1. Land and Wayleave Acquisition: Identify and acquire land and wayleaves for UEDCL projects, ensuring proper negotiations and documentation.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with landowners, local authorities, and communities to address concerns and secure approvals.
  3. Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all acquisition activities.
  4. Dispute Resolution: Manage disputes related to land and wayleaves to ensure minimal project disruptions.
  5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of acquisitions and provide regular status reports.

Person Specifications

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics, Real Estate Management, or a related field.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in land acquisition, wayleave management, or a related field.
  • Experience in negotiation and dispute resolution.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of land laws and regulatory frameworks in Uganda.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and dispute resolution expertise.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant GIS tools.

Working Environment

  • The role involves fieldwork and office work, including frequent travel to project sites and interaction with landowners, local authorities, and other stakeholder
