UEDCL tree planting program

UEDCL obtained a license from the National Forestry Authority to plant 50 hectares of forest at Walumanyi Forest Reserve. The forest reserve at Walumanyi has now extended up to a total of 50 hectares. The trees planted are of the Eucalyptus species. The biggest benefit utilized so far is that at the maturity of the forest, UEDCL would have contributed towards environmental protection and it can harvest the poles for consumption by its pole treatment plant. This will, in the long run, go along way in providing a reliable and consistent source of raw materials to the plant and improve UEDCL corporate image as a social corporate responsibility towards preserving the environment.
